01
Choose the board scope
Decide whether the board should compare individuals, teams, roles, or segments. Compare people with similar opportunity pools when possible.
Team boards can be better when territories or sales motions are very different.
02
Set a time window
Short windows create focus and faster learning. A seven to fourteen day window is usually a strong first campaign length.
Longer windows can work, but they need regular manager review so momentum does not fade.
03
Publish the rules
Before the board goes live, publish the eligible activities, point values, timing, and tie-breakers. A leaderboard should create energy, not confusion.
